Overall,  I did way better this semester than I did in both of my freshmen year semesters. However, there is a lot I could’ve performed better on. My plan is to do much better next semester. One thing I did good this semester was that I was able to study correctly and focus. It takes time to learn how to study and manage all of my classes, but I believe that I have been more successful this year in preparing for my classes than last year.

What I messed up on, however, was managing my time and getting distracted very easily. It is hard to stay focused sometimes because there is so much going on and you have a lot more responsibility. But, I hope to improve myself so that I can be successful academically. I also want to become more healthy. While focusing on my grades, I also plan on going to the gym so that I can have a better lifestyle.

An interesting thing about my family is that my Grandma and Grandpa had 10 kids, including my Dad. They were raised outside of America, and eventually my Dad came to the United States of America. His 3 other brothers followed him to America with their wives, and they got established here as time passed.

My Dad and his brothers went to university in the Middle East, and they became engineers. However, they left everything they had for a better life in America. They came to America with $5 in their wallets. After facing many hardships and with the help of others, they were able to become businessmen.

After all the trials my parents faced, they managed to get us everything we wanted and more. I hope that one day I can repay them for all they have done for us. I am very lucky to have such amazing parents.

I am very thankful for my siblings and cousins, because when I need them they are always there to help get through difficult times. Without them I wouldn’t be as happy as I always am so, I appreciate that with all my heart.

I’m thankful for my friends, because no matter what happens between us we know we have each others backs no matter what happens. Without my friends my life wouldn’t be as great as it is today.

Last but not least  I am thankful for my parents. I’m thankful for everything they have given me. The most important thing I’m thankful for is what all they have done me, because if I didn’t have my parents I wouldn’t be who I am today.

Welcome

Hi, my name is Rafay Khan. This is a blog I’ll be using for English Honors II. I will write on here occasionally about my life and experiences. I am super excited about this awesome opportunity to start a blog. I was born in Galveston, Texas and lived in Alvin, Texas for the majority of my life. I am 15 years old, and I have two older siblings whose names are Niha and Rohail. I attended the Alvin ISD School District until 4th grade. After living 9 years in Alvin, we moved to Clear lake because we bought a house. I only got to go to Brookside Intermediate for 2 years because we had to move again; my sister was ready to go to university and decided on Texas A&M, so our family moved to College Station, Texas.

I am currently attending A&M Consolidated High School as a sophomore. Both of my siblings go to Texas A&M. Niha is doing her Masters in Accounting and will graduate in December 2018. Rohail is a freshman and is planning on becoming a dentist. Although we are a family of five, we have a lot of cousins, so most of my days consist of me hanging out with my family. A typical day in the life of Rafay Khan would be: waking up in the morning to go to school, coming home, watching TV, doing homework, relaxing with my family, and then going to sleep. My hobbies include playing basketball, video games, cards, and working out with my brother.

In the future, I plan to get all A’s in High school and graduate from the top 10% of my class. After high school, I plan to go to the University of Houston and get a degree in Computer Engineering. When I am older, I want to be able to buy a Corvette Stingray. I hope to be successful in my future and want to make a difference in the world. I hope that I can live up to my goals and be there to help others when they need me. I plan on getting married after working 3 to 4 years and making my parents proud of my accomplishments.

Hello, this is my second post, and I am very excited to share my childhood memories with you. As a child, I read many books, but today, I will tell you about my favorite one: Where The Wild Things Are.  My teachers read this book to me when I was in the 1st grade. I would get really happy when my teacher would say that we were going to read this book. In this book, the kid got upset and was tired of his home, so he left it. There was an island of Monsters, but he didn’t know that the monsters were there. However, after spending time with the monsters, they made him their king. Eventually, he missed his family, so he decided to leave the island. As a result, the monsters felt betrayed, so they tried to attack him.  He was able to escape without getting hurt and went back to his family.

In this book, the illustrations were very colorful and full of life. I think that’s what I liked most about the book. My favorite illustrations were of the kid with the monsters on the island. Where The While Things Are is my favorite book because I like adventurous stories. Another reason why it was my favorite was because  when the kid became a king, I would also imagine myself becoming one. Unfortunately, I do not have a copy of this book. If I were to find this book, I would definitely read it again and hope to read it to my kids in the future.

What is something I take granted for and should appreciate more? When I was asked this question, a lot of things came to mind. However, there is one thing that really stood out to me and that is what my mom does for me. My mother wakes me up and ruins her own sleep just so she can wake me up in time to eat breakfast and walk me to the bus. If I didn’t have my mom in my everyday life, I would probably have a bunch of absences and tardies in school. I love my mom for what she does for me, and I believe there couldn’t be a better mother.

Another thing I take for granted are all the blessings I have in life. For example, I have so many different types of clothing, 20 different shoes, and my parents get me everything i ever asked for. I feel that I am blessed with all I have; not everyone has these blessings, and I wouldn’t last without my nice clothes and hot baths. I feel like not just me, but everyone should be appreciative of the little things they have in life.

The things in life that you’ll miss are not just the big things you have, but the small things. Sometimes we tend to overlook the small things. These small things are actually necessities millions of people do not have around the world.  For example, we take for granted something as small as clean water. Others would be happy if they had any type of water, clean or dirty, to drink. Without thinking about it twice, we need to take a break, whether it be for a minute or an hour, to thank God for all the little or big things we take for granted.

My favorite movie of all time is the Dark Knight. The story of this movie is iconic and amazing. There’s a lot action and suspense between Batman and The Joker; it just can’t get better than that. This movie has so many twists and turns you can’t predict what is going to happen next.

A sad thing that happened is that the year Dark Knight was released the man that played The Joker passed away from an overdose of prescription drugs that year. Heath Ledger will always be remembered as an amazing actor. The Dark Knight was rated 9/10. I t was one of the highest rated movies on IMDB in history. This movie had my favorite scene of all time. It had amazing acting by Christian Bale and Heath Ledger.

I would want to vote in a presidential election for someone that is a good person and wants to make the world a better place. They should not only make decisions based off of what would help the United States, but should also make decisions based off of how the decision would impact the world. We need to make sure the new president will have a positive impact on the citizens.

I would want a person who wouldn’t judge someone based off of their religion, culture, or ethnicity. I would want someone who has a strong vision for their country’s future, effective communication skills and the courage to make unpopular decisions. Furthermore, I would want them to do what they claim that they will do in their campaign. Lastly, I would vote for someone who would want to bring peace and happiness into everyone’s lives and who has good crisis management skills, character, and integrity.

The artist that I seem to enjoy the most is Travis Scott. I like how his music is very deep and always has an important lesson in it. Many people can relate and connect to the lyrics of the songs he writes. My favorite song from Travis Scott so far is Sicko Mode.

Sadly, I have never seen Travis Scott live, but one day I would love to cause he is such a great artist. I heard about him from my brother. One time, my brother played a good song of his, and I was mesmerized by it. After listening to his music, there is no other rapper that made me like rap as much.
